Jim is from Detroit, where he spent over two decades working for the Ford Motor Company. He served Ford in a wide variety of internal communication roles and was a division newsletter editor for over 12 years with the Ford General Services Division and Technical and Transportation Services (T&TS); he also served as the Chair of the Ford International Newsletter Editors (FINE) from 1994 to 1996.
During his time at Ford, Jim, going to school at night, earned an Associate’s Degree in (Mathematics) Applied Science from Schoolcraft College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in (Industrial) Psychology from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication from Eastern Michigan University.
Jim created, developed, and taught Organizational Communication classes as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Michigan – Dearborn while working at Ford, and taught Business Writing classes at the University of Phoenix in Raleigh NC.
In 1999, Jim and his family moved to the Triangle and made Apex, NC (near Raleigh) their new home. He joined the Hendrick Automotive Group that same year and had an 11-year career with Hendrick in both Charlotte and Cary NC. He served in sales, and as a National Sales Training Manager for the Hendrick Retail Operations in the USA. In 2005, he was appointed the Director of Training and Recruiting for the Cary (NC) Auto Mall.
With his organizational background in both writing and editing in mind, he left the car business and founded I.M.U. Social Media LLC (IMUSM) in July 2011; the purpose, to serve small business owners, start-ups, and solo professionals who need social media content and marketing on a reasonable budget.
Over 20 clients later, IMUSM continues to grow, providing high-quality content and strategic engagement for micro and small businesses in the Triangle NC, Lake Norman NC, and Michigan.
I.M.U. Social Media LLC is celebrating its 13th year in small business, July 2024.
In 2014, Jim moved to the Lake Norman Region of North Carolina, just north of Charlotte, and now resides in Davidson, with his wife Susan and their little fur buddy Lily.

Jim is an avid Detroit Tiger fan and Detroit Lions fan and loves his Alma Maters, the University of Michigan, and Eastern Michigan University, on basketball and football game days.
Jim is also an active community spokesperson for local small businesses in the Triangle and across Lake Norman. He is also the local spokesperson for Prostate Cancer Survival.
His mantra is “Success is a Team Sport”.
